Montreal, a short-term UNDP fellow on International Management
Education and a visiting ODA (now DFID, British Council) research

a half decades of marketing consultancy, research & training

dealing in FMCGs, Consumer Durables and Services besides member

Ahmedabad.
He has over two decades of experience in Technology based
Entrepreneurship Development; Skill Development; Trainers
Training and Faculty Development; establishment of Entrepreneurship
Development Institutions like Institutes of Entrepreneurship
Development at the state level, Technology Business Incubators,
Science & Technology Entrepreneurship Parks, Entrepreneurship
Development Cells in the educational institutions; development
of micro-enterprises; working for income generation activities
for underprivileged sections
At present besides being the Member Secretary of NSTEDB he
also looks after the work relating to Plan-Coordination, Swarnajayanti
Fellowships and Information Technology for the Department
of Science & Technology. Mr. Mittal is currently also
the National Programme Director of the UNDP project on SKILLS
which aims to demonstrate that jobs can be created through
appropriate location specific, need based, competency linked
training interventions using the conventional as well as on-line
systems.
He has been responsible for establishing networks with international
development institutions like the World Bank (InfoDev Programme)
and EU for bringing the global incubation knowledge to the
Indian business incubators. At the National level he has linked
activities of the NSTEDB with various developmental ministries
and institutions.

Mr.
Ramesh A Vaswani – Vice Chairman , Intex |
 He
is the Executive Vice Chairman of Intex Technologies and is
responsible for organizational and business development, strategic
decisions and overseeing the operations.
A gold medalist in Mechanical Engineering from the Indian
Institute of Technology-Madras, Chennai, Mr. Vaswani has 44
years of vast and rich industry experience in various sectors
in India and overseas, including refrigeration, diesel engines,
automotive components, plastics processing and packaging,
small appliances, electric motors, industrial flexible metal
hoses, Software applications, IT hardware, etc. He has been
a member of various committees at CII and PHD Chamber and
was also Vice-Chairman of Indo-Italian Chamber of Commerce
and Industry (NR). Currently he is a member of CII National
Committee on ICTE Hardware Manufacturing
He started his career in 1965 as a Senior Management Trainee
with the reputed Shriram Group, Delhi and held several senior
positions over a period of 14 years. His last assignment in
the Group was that of General Manager of an Automotive Component
manufacturing company where he was responsible for turning
around the sick company and bringing in a fresh Technical
Collaboration agreement with a globally reputed Japanese manufacturer.
In 1979 he took up an overseas assignment for 5 years, as
Managing Director of two manufacturing companies of CHELLARAM
Group in Nigeria. On returning to India in 1984, he was Vice
President of INALSA, Delhi where he set up 2 new businesses,
Appliances Division and Flexitubes Division. The latter was
hived off as a JV and finally taken over by a British MNC.
From engineering industry he switched over to IT industry
in 1999 and was Managing Director of a Software company offering
Baan ERP solutions, SAS Data Warehousing solutions, etc. In
2000 he established an alliance with a leading Canadian company
for a large Indian Group to set up a new business, dealing
in high-speed wireless data transfer radios. This business
was moved in 2002 to INTEX Group.
During his career, Mr. Vaswani has always taken a keen interest
in human assets development. Many of his trainees and reportees
are holding key senior positions in reputed companies in India
and overseas.

strategy. He has worked at the helm in several start-up
projects where speed and execution were key to success.
Till recently he served as the President and Chief Executive
of Financial Services vertical at Reliance Retail Ltd. where
he was able to build India’s first Loyalty & Financial
Services business in retail spanning 850 stores across 79
cities around the country in record time by leveraging technology,
decision science, store network, customer access and innovative
product management. Prior to joining Reliance in 2006, He
worked for American Express for eight years where he was
the Country Manager for India and Area Countries since 2001.
Earlier, he was Vice President and Head of Investment Products
at Citibank-India. In his nine years with Citi, He played
several key roles across Operations, Technology, Business
Planning & Analysis, new business and product launches.
He also has a couple of years of work experience on the
shop floor of a Suzuki JV as an engineer.
He has served on the boards of American Chamber Of Commerce
and Financial Planning Standards Board. He continues to
serve as an Advisor to Reliance Industries Ltd., is a member
of the advisory board of Indian Institute of Learning Management,
is an active member of Young Presidents Organization and
a Charter Member of Tie.
He is an alumnus of XLRI, Jamshedpur and is a Graduate
in Mechanical Engineering from SJCE, Mysore.
